Ailsa’s travel theme this week is ‘cook’, and the cooking of some the most unusual choices of animals to eat, certainly caught my eye at the Wangfujing Street market in Beijing recently.
We’re talking scorpions, centipedes, crickets, star fish and sea horses!
Zooming in on the photo, you will also notice on the far right, lizards!
Apart from scorpions, it took me awhile to work out what this vendor was cooking up. They’re silk worm cocoons on the tray. I have no idea what the uncooked meat in this photo is ; my mind boggles at the possibilities! I am pretty certain though, it wouldn’t be something as common as chicken!
OMG. Why, I ask, why, would anyone eat those things. 🙂

I know, my thoughts too! I was tempted to try a scorpion, but then I thought better of it. Even if it were dead, it probably would have still killed me! Lol!

I wouldn’t eat any of those things being vegetarian (which carried its own problems in China) but John has tried some very peculiar things including some of these. He lived!
